Hair Snafu

About a month ago now, I looked outside to the backyard where Simon and Clover were playing to see Simon taking a large handful of hair off the back of Clover's head. She was the one holding the scissors, though, and apparently cutting chunks from her own hair. So if you notice her shorter haircut in some of the newer photos, that's why. To fix it up, I actually cut it myself for the first time (after watching hair cutting instructional videos on YouTube), and I think it turned out pretty well, even if it did take me about 45 minutes. (She got to watch some of her favorite YouTube videos during the hair cut). Here's what it looked like after she did her part of the cutting:

What is the fascination with kids cutting their own or siblings' hair? It seems everyone has done it or had their own hair cut. We had to institute a strict paper only rule for our scissors as they kept getting "hungry" for things they should not eat!

Her hair looks adorable in the Halloween picture. You must have cut it well! (Though letting her watch YouTube videos might encourage similar behavior in the future...she's a smart gal!)

Hilary you are so brave by taking the risk of cutting her hair!! And it looks like you did a very nice job. Someday I will tell you the story of how may Dad cut my sisters hair, and her reaction...not a "public story" sorry...

Kansas Mom, we also had a very serious talk about no hair cutting in the future. The videos were only a few towards the end, when she'd already been forced to sit in the chair for a long time and we just needed to get done. I think the lollipop (and chance to get out and chat up the stylist) she usually gets at the hair salon would have been more incentive for her than a couple short videos.

She does love having her hair shorter though, so we may have found an enduring style!

Let's just say Clover did a better job with her own hair than Matt with mine! Don't trust the man with scissors!!
