This is one area we have been quite weak in this fall, but a couple weeks back we did manage to get out to a trail nearby, and I suggested we bring the (as yet unused) nature notebooks I bought for the kids. They latched on to the idea (almost too well) and wanted to draw everything they saw. It made for a very leisurely pace, but it was nice to see them noticing moss on logs and thinking about what colors to use in the now very brown fall landscape.
