Anyway, today one of the other kids fielded the ball and threw it to Simon the first baseman. Simon dove onto the ground, arm outstretched, and caught it with the tip of his glove. The kind of catch that's impressive even in major league baseball. All the parents clapped and cheered. (Though he didn't notice at the time and was surprised later when I told him). Go Simon! He can't wait until next year when he's six and can play in "farm league," where (I assume) they actually play a real game with a score and outs.

Speaking of Tee Ball...
Simon made quite a spectacular catch at his game today. He loves to play first base, because that's where they teach the kids to always throw the ball when they field, so he gets to handle the ball on every play. He's pretty good, too (as opposed to some of his teammates who are too busy making dirt piles and might just get beaned in the head).
